STAFF FAQ
How old do I have to be to apply?
You must be turning 17 at some point during the current year.
When is the deadline to apply?
Our first day of interviews is the middle of February so most of the applications should be in before then but we will continue to accept application until we have a sufficient number of applicants for each position.
What positions are available?
Click on the online application and scroll down to see a brief description of all the positions.
Do I have to live at the camp during the summer?
Yes, all of our staff live at the camp during the summer. Staff have the weekends off from Friday around 7pm until Sunday at 4pm.
What if I need time off during the summer?
Although we try to be flexible we cannot grant more than a day or so off during the summer. There may be some more flexibility if you have to miss some time at the beginning or end of the summer.
When do the summer positions start and end?
All summer positions, unless otherwise noted on the staff application are 10 weeks long and in 2012 will start on June 18th with two weeks of staff training and end on August 25th.
The start date overlaps with my exams. What do I do?
This happens every year and we have created a good system so that you can write your exams and attend as much of staff training as possible. We work with the schools to often write exams early, write exams at the camp, and sometimes you will need timeoff from camp to write your exams. Please don't let this discourage you from applying.
What is the salary?
All positions are paid. Please email Adrian to get a range that your salary might be.
Should I include a resume with my application?
It can't hurt but it is not required.
Am I guaranteed a job if I am a returning staff member?
No, because we have so many excellent applicants every year no one is guaranteed a position. Please take your application and interview seriously.
I am a returning staff member, do I still need to get three references?
Yes, for insurance and liability reasons we require references to be done every year.
Can I have my interview over the phone?
Yes you can but it is discouraged. We much prefer an in-person interview but we also know that sometimes it can be impossible if you live really far away.
What qualifications are required to be the nurse?
The Healthcare Coordinator (Nurse) must have completed his/her third year of school or greater.
What qualifications are required to be a lifeguard?
Lifeguards are required to have their NLS.
What if my first choice for positions is tied between kitchen of maintenance and something else, who should I book an interview with?
Book a Summer Staff Interview Time not a Kitchen or Maintenance Interview Time.
The online form isn't working. What do I do?
Try a different internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Some very old browsers may not work, try updating your browser or using another one. If the form still doesn't work, then email Adrian.
