JULY 4-9

Friday July 9

Goodbye to our special support guests and spec trekers. It was a great week! Below is our weekly video containing highlights from tons of activities over the past week. Each guests gets a copy of the video when they sign out. It was a load of fun and we hope to see everyone back again next year! Don't forget to fill out our parent/guardian evaluation. Your opinion is important to us.

Thursday July 8

Well the week is coming to a close, but there's still a lot of fun to be had. Today was a day of animals, bingo and relaxation, enjoying God's nature and each other's company!

Today's Highlights: Cinnamon Buns for Breakfast; Power and Praise; Bingo; A Petting Zoo; Subs for lunch; Pool Time; Tuck Time; Movie/Free time; SMACKeroni and cheese for supper; Bible Study; Trampoline, Basketball and Bowling; Campfire.

Soon guests will be enjoying their last camp fire of the week. There'll be some great songs and stories.

From turkeys to kittens, the petting zoo had it all! Guests and staff alike enjoyed the company of some not-so-common animals. Pictures, as always, can be seen here

Wednesday July 7

Today was an especially excellent day at Camp Shalom. We had a visit from a beekeeper, and our weekly 'Revival' service. It's a time of skits, songs and worship that never fails to bring guests and staff closer to Christ. At this moment guests are sleepily getting ready for bed after an exciting day.

Today's Highlights: Bacon and Eggs for breakfast; Power and Praise; Bible Study; A great weaving craft; BBQ for lunch; Time in the pool; A visit from a local beekeeper, who taught staff and guests about the profession of beekeeping; Tuck Time; Pork Chops for supper; the Revival Service

The weaving craft seemed a bit tricky at first, but there were some great art pieces made. Guests had lots of questions for the beekeeper, and had fun learning from him.

You can see some of today's highlights here

Tuesday July 6

It's been another great day at camp, but there's still more to come! In a few minutes guests and staff will be sitting down to a supper of chicken stir fry. After that is a picture scavenger hunt and campfire.

Today's Highlights: Egg McShaloms for breakfast; Power and Praise; Bible Study; Painting for craft time; Pizza and salad for lunch; A great time in the pool and on the water slide; Tuck time; Cookie decorating; Chicken Stir Fry for supper; Colouring; Picture Scavenger Hunt; and Camp Fire.

Everyone had a fun time painting tables or small canvases. Some guests made impressive pieces of art! You can see pictures of the painting craft and more highlights from today here.

Keep checking back daily for updates!

Monday July 5

It's been a fun (if hot!) day at camp, and all the guests and staff are having a blast! Right now guests are enjoying some fun songs and a meaningful message from our chaplin around the campfire. This awesome day is winding down.

Today's Highlights: Pancakes and sausages for breakfast; Power and Praise (our daily worship service); Bible Study; Canoeing; Chicken Nuggets and Fries for lunch; A swim in the pool and fun on the splash pad; Fun with bubbles, chalk and sand castles; Tuck time; Pictionary; Lasagna for supper; Staff Paint; Staff Show.

Guests loved staff paint. It's just like it sounds, guests get to load up paint brushes and paint their favourite staff any colour they want! Counsellor Matt ended up entirely blue.

You can view pictures from staff paint and other activities in the July 4-9 album here. Check back every day for new photos!
