Monday June 29th

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY!  It's Monday afternoon here at camp, and the rain has moved us inside.  Unfortunately we couldn't go swimming after lunch as planned because of the thunderstorm.   So after rearranging our schedule we are staying out of the rain and doing bible study.  This morning we enjoyed singing in Power and Praise, and made some kites.  Test flights are delayed until a sunnier forecast!

On the schedule for tonight:  Lasagna with salad, garlic bread, and pudding for dessert.  Following that we will be doing our Staff Show (a show of funny skits and stunts guaranteed to make you laugh).

Below are this week's cabin photos (with the exception of our Discipleship 201 campers).

Tuesday June 30th

The sun peaked out from behind raining clouds a few times today, letting us get outside to enjoy the pool, waterslide, and other aspects of God's creation.  Some highlights from today include: Power and Praise, bible study, tuck, Musical Xs, Bingo, and of course, the pool and waterslide!  Check out some of our photos from today's fun at our PHOTOS menu at the top of the page, or just click here.

Wednesday July 1st

Happy Birthday CANADA!  It is still wet here at Camp Shalom today.  Thanks be to God, the rain held off for the whole morning and into the later afternoon.

Schedule Highlights:  Canoeing, Splash Pad and Waterslide, Bible Study, Power and Praise, Tuck, and a BBQ lunch-outdoors!
Funny Story: Counsellor Josh found a chipmunk that had snuck in to Drost Lodge.  He managed to catch it with his bare hands, have his photo taken with it, and, of course, get bitten.
On the Schedule for tonight: Revival-our weekly worship service that walks campers through the story of creation, the fall of man, and Christ's redemption, through a number of different skits.
Life on Spec. Trek:  The trekkers have been roughing it out in tents all week.  They've been wet, but they are all still in high spirits.  Today they built a lean-to shelter as a team.  Unfortunately because of the rain their over-the-fire dinner has been postponed.  Tomorrow they head out for a day of canoeing on the Grand River from Cambridge to Glen Morris.
Life as a Leadership Camper:  Leadership is deep in training for their mission trip to Toronto next week.  They've been sharing their testimonies with the group, which has been a tough experience for most, but has led to some great bonding experiences with the group.  Tomorrow evening they head off to Brantford for an evening at WHY NOT? City Missions in Brantford.
Prayer Requests: Tonight's "Revival" service; our Leadership campers as they head to Branford for outreach tomorrow evening; Sunshine and lots of it; no thunderstorms tomorrow so that Spec. Trekkers can go on their canoe trip; and that God's love would continue to reign in this place.

Thursday July 2nd

IT'S SUNNY here at Camp Shalom and our Spec. Trekkers are out enjoying the river!!!  Today has been a blast full of fun and lots of outdoor activity.  This morning for breakfast we had Camp Shalom's famous Egg McShaloms.  Following breakfast and Power & Praise we had a petting farm.  There were, chickens, kittens, dogs, rabbits, a calf, a guinea pig, chicks, and even two alpacas!  Currently our guests are drying off from the pool and doing bible study.  It is soon to be tuck time and then this afternoon we will be creating our own picture frames to show off our cabin photos in.  Tonight our staff are getting ready to get messy, as our guests paint us.  Photos from today's petting farm are now posted, so check them out here.

See you tomorrow at 5pm for De-Registration!

Friday July 3rd
